Review of The Tall Man (2012) by Gino P — 29 Jul 2012
A superbly crafted chilling tale of child abduction in a small town. Children have been going missing for so long in Cold Rock that it has almost been accepted as the norm. With no real explanations of the disappearances the townsfolk put it down to The Tall Man. This man becomes the stuff of superstitious legend as the years go on.
Biel, showing she's not just a kick ass pretty face, play Julia. A nurse, Julia provides the only real medical presence in the town after her Doctor husband dies. Her son David is kept under close supervision but of course he soon goes missing & she stops at nothing to rescue him.
Now this is not a horror movie but more of a chiller with moral questions being asked which is why the real twist of the movie comes part way through rather than at the end. It's devoid of blood & gore as the story does not require it. It's a well made film & the cast step up to the plate well, particularly Biel.
It's one to make you ask some questions and the shock factor is so subtley placed you find yourself constantly being hit by it. The main question it leaves is "Right or wrong".
Another sleeping hit.
