Review of The Tall Man (2012) by Kennlin B — 06 Oct 2012
"THE TALL MAN" is actually a great movie, disguised as a cliche horror flick. I could see what the director was heading for and actually did, but I felt like the advertisements for the film is very misleading. The film is a great thriller, but.. It's-not-a-horror-movie!!! The Tall man title makes it seem like 'SLENDER MAN' or something. But the film is much more than that! If you're looking for a descent mystery/thriller, this is it. But it's no slasher movie. I feel like it's also been tampered with by the company, dumbed it down a bunch and did some last minute editing that really didn't turn out that good. Including the intro credit's font (Which bothered the shit out of me) that looked lazy as hell.
The film itself though, is very VERY intense. Just like the end of 'Martyrs' I was squirming in my seat, but in a different way, but his previous was cause of the 20 minute torture scene (That was disturbing) wasn't like this movie, cause there was no torture scene or blood and guts. It was just a simple secret that one of the characters wasn't telling anyone (Without spoiling to much) and such a clever twist that actually doesn't make you go "OH MY GOD!!?" it just actually leaves a more accurate and warmer ending.
I know the 'Martyrs' director still has it in him, it's just he gotta go to the right people, instead of getting the movie dumped straight-to-dvd.
