Review of The Tall Man (2012) by Kevin R — 26 Jan 2014
Our town has been dead for six years.
The town of Coldrock is plagued by The Tall Man. The Tall Man is a legend of a tall dark man who comes down from the mountain and steals children. When a mother loses her boy, she chases the tall man into the woods hoping to retrieve her son and unravel the truth about the Tall Man.
"I wanted it. I made it happen. I guess it's better this way, right? Right? Right?".
Pascal Laugier, directr of House of Voices, Martyrs, and episode of XIII: The Series, delivers The Tall Man. The storyline for this picture is actually fairly interesting and unravels well. This was more of a thriller than slasher film which really caught me off guard. The plot is smarter than you may expect and the acting was above average. The cast includes Jessica Beil, Jodelle Ferland, William Davis, and Eve Harlow.
"But the eyes of every child are filled with potential and hope, and we need to embrace and nourish that potential. But we don't, and we continue to make the same mistakes, and we continue to let the children grow up broken and lost, just like their parents.".
We have gone on a recent run of horror films and grabbed this off Netflix. This was way different than I expected and I actually enjoyed this more than anticipated. I thought this would be a cliché slasher film, but it really wasn't. I actually recommend giving this at least one viewing if you're a horror movie fan.
"Something had come to Coldrock to take the children.
Grade: C+.
