Review of The Tall Man (2012) by N. Y — 26 Nov 2012
It'd seem, no thanks to the adverts and its' accompanying packaging Laugier's "The Tall Man," a few too many viewers were duped. Expecting a horror, when in-fact handed a thriller -- and a bareboned thriller at that.
Any film-buff would've been a firm two-steps ahead of the script from the get go. Another archetypical post-'10 thriller/horror mash-up; characters lack depth; 'o course compensated by an apparent atmosphere.
You know, the clichà (C)d small 'merican town; ripe with paranoids, schizoids, and generally whacked out -- if not -- over-the-top small-towners, gleaming with a distaste for fellow man. And the town, just so happens -- of course -- to be rimmed by dense forest.
Oh, spooky! Pre-teens, jump onboard, The Tall Man's for you.
