Review of The Tall Guy (1989) by Michael T — 17 Jun 2008
Around the same time North American audiences were discovering Rowan Atkinson in the BLACK ADDER series (being shown on PBS) he starred as an obnoxious comic to whom the "Tall Guy" (Jeff Goldblum) is the butt of his slapstick jokes.
Goldblum meets nurse Emma Thompson who is very funny and sexy in this film. And Goldblum, an under-rated comic actor, is also very good in this film. Atkinson steals every scene he is in, however.
The film also skewrs Andrew Loyd Webber-type musical productions. This was the era when you couldn't get away from Webber's PHANTOM or avoid Webber's ego if you even just glanced at the entertainment section of your local news.
