Review of The Talented Mr. Ripley (1999) by Fredrick R — 10 May 2010
Forgot how creepy this movie was.
In Matt Damon's best performance to date, he plays a sociopathic cipher and social climber Tim Ripley who becomes obsessed with a rich playboy (Jude Law) and his fiance (Gwyneth Paltrow) as he leaches on to them, traveling in Italy.
Jude Law is excellent as the spoiled, narcissistic rich boy Dickie Greenleaf, as does Philip Seymour Hoffman as the smart ass, sardonic best friend.
A truly disturbing and violent Imitation of Life.
