Review of The Talented Mr. Ripley (1999) by Richard A — 12 May 2009
My second favourite film of all time. Beautifully shot with outstanding performances from beautiful people in beautiful locations in a time gone by. A film that blurs the line of loving someone & wanting to be that person, of Tom Ripley being hurt & let down by his object of obsession, his insecurities of not fitting in, of wanting a better lifestyle & what he'll do to keep it.
The sad conclusion of any future love to be destroyed by the mistakes of his past, what he'll do to hide them and the loneliness he'll face. Perfect score to match the time, locations and emotions.
