Review of The Talented Mr. Ripley (1999) by Geoff O — 30 Aug 2010
I remember when I first watched this film a while back, my expression after it went off was priceless... There really are too many words to describe this movie, it's beautiful, it's lustful, it's enticing, it's dark, it has a good sense of humor, it's one of the best films I have ever seen. Matt Damon shows us he's actually a really talented actor in this one, I know he did great in Good Will Hunting, Rounders & The Departed, but his acting in The Talented Mr. Ripley is by far my favorite acting of his. Well, to summarize this movie, Matt Damon is The Talented Mr. Ripley, he's suave, sophisticated, and is making his slow descent into insanity.
Jude Law has a really good supporting role in this film as Dickie Greenleaf along with Philip Seymour Hoffman who plays the role of Freddie Miles. Cate Blanchett who plays Meredith Logue also has a very good role in this film along with Gwyneth Paltrow who plays the role of Marge Sherwood. The ensemble cast that this film has is just amazing, the way each actor plays their role is just enticing! I highly reccomend "The Talented Mr. Ripley" to anyone with a good taste in movies!
