Anthony Minghella has a talent for telling stories in a way where the characters feel like real people you know. No matter how far fetched the story or fantastic the people, every character is so fully fleshed out that you believe everything going on, and The Talented Mr. Ripley is no exception. This story about lies and the nature of human relationships is beautiful to look at and full of insight. Benefiting from an amazing cast, full of some of the best performers working in the industry, The Talented Mr. Ripley works because of the characters.
