Review of The Tale of Zatoichi (1962) by Jeffrey P — 09 Aug 2011
I watched the 2003 remake, and naturally got curious about the original. Much like a western, Zatoichi (a blind masseuse turned swordsman) wanders into town and gets enmeshed in the gang conflict that's just coming to a boil.
Will his sense of justice and honor be satisfied? There's not a lot of action, but plenty of gently compelling characters and filmmaking.
