Review of The Tale of Despereaux (2008) by - Rute 8 — 13 Jul 2009

This movie looked cute as it was coming out, and I finally got the chance to watch it. It was indeed cute, but that's about all. It didn't have the same spark as the traditional Disney movies of the past, but very few movies today seem to have that.

It was definitely nothing special, but fun to watch nonetheless. The story didn't strike me as particularly mesmerizing with the group of misfits all coming together for the fair tale ending. The mouse who'd rather be a man was comical, as was the the food monster thing (sorry I don't remember the name).

I feel like there was quite a bit of depth lacking, not that it truly matters to the loads of little kids I watched this movie with. It was by no means a bad film, just a little disappointing since I was so looking forward to it.

It fit its audience.
