The Taking of Pelham 123 is a fantastic 70's hijack movie. Shaw and Matthau play off nicely against each other, one as the transport cop, the other the leader of the gang. The film has great pace for a film of this age and a cracking score. It has believable characters as well as great setpieces. Although the motives of the hijackers is purely money, one would expect the remake (starring Denzel Washington) to play up this angle - possibly making them Al Queda.
The Taking of Pelham 123 is a film that shouldn't be missed by any discerning film lover or New York affciando. Great stuff.
