Review of The Taking of Pelham One Two Three (1974) by Matthew W — 10 Aug 2008
What a time capsule!
New York in 1974 with a broke city, a hated mayor, ethic and gender stereotypes on every corner. Men were men, women were women, and actors looked like everyday people. I see they are remaking it with a bevy of pretty people to be released in 2009. I am sure will be well made movie that will look like every other heist movie I've seen in the last ten years. I'll bet at some point a manly hero with a square jaw will swagger non-chalantly into the camera while something blows up behind him. I never tire of THAT shot.
