Review of The Taking of Pelham One Two Three (1974) by Mike N — 20 Feb 2010
The movie kept building tension and tension and tension and as it did I started liking it more and more and more. The stakes kept getting higher, the bad guys got badder, and...did I mention tension? The main title and ending score was brilliant and Robert Shaw is king.
Martin Balsam was also really great! And Matthau...need I say more. I loved the angery train operator Donowitz...hilarious. There were a few pacing issues in the beginning of the film that marred it slightly, but overall it was a fun ride.
After watching the film I watched the trailer to the remake by Tony Scott...all I have to say is, WTF! A shame.
