Review of The Taking of Pelham One Two Three (1974) by James C — 27 Dec 2009
Brilliant. Robert Shaw proves he's still a worthy villian through his portrayal of Mr.Blue. Walter Matthau gives a good performance as Garber. The witty banter dotted throughout the film is a nice counterbalance to the dark themes that naturally stem from the situation the characters find themselves in.
The film also jabs at authority figures and the passengers who become the hostages are a mixed bag of amusing stereotypes. The balance of drama, suspense, action and comedy hits all the right notes and is sure to please any viewer.
A definite must-see.
