Review of The Taking of Deborah Logan (2014) by Jesse K — 10 May 2016
2/5 The Taking of Deborah Logan (also known as simply, The Taking) presents a BRILLIANT concept with massive potential for some real, bone-chilling horror. However, that potential is squandered by genre cliches and repetition.
The film does have a few creepy scenes, including one major reveal towards the end. Unfortunately I had seen that reveal prior to the actual movie which ruined any shock value. Another pro for The Taking is the performances which are actually pretty great.
But some fine acting can't make up for a clunky script and cheap scares.
