Review of The Tailor of Panama (2001) by Kirby P — 11 Feb 2010
Excellent, excellent movie! Ranks as one of my favorite 100. The only detraction in this movie is some rather low-budget special effects near the end.
Oh, and don't bother watching this flick on network TV. They edit just enough out of it to totally ruin it.
Part of the original appeal of this film was the fact that Pierce Brosnan, fresh off portraying James Bond, appeared as a secret agent of sorts but very un-Bond-like. But even now, well after the memory of his association with the Bond films has faded somewhat, this is still a great movie.
If you like this film, you might as well follow it up with "The Matador", which has Brosnan as a hit man. It's a fairly similar style movie, and almost as good. It lacks Geoffrey Rush and Jamie Lee Curtis, that's all.
