Review of The Switch (2010) by Richelle G — 25 Jun 2013
A rom-com of a different sort. Bateman's character Wally is completely rounded, quirky, and well-acted, while Aniston pulls off a believable mother-role. The writing is witty, although Jeff Goldblum almost comes off as a last-minute add-in with no official lines, only cues to improvise.
The little boy is charming, and a surprisingly good actor. In the end, the overall feel of the film is what merits four stars--I didn't come away from this film feeling like I'd just taken an uncomfortable stroll through fantasy-land, full of dramatic proposals and exclamations of undying love.
The movie is pleasant in its honesty, which renders the semi-absurdity of the story believable. I just couldn't help but like it.
