Review of The Swell Season (2012) by Samuel H — 02 May 2011

I saw this at this year's TriBeCa film festival. This duo and their music have been special for me ever since I first saw them performing in a random street in Prague. They were promoting their film Once.

I saw the film because I liked their music. And it touched me. Seeing the documentary that chronicled the couple of years following their Oscar win made me nostalgic. For their music, for Prague, for the emotions and thoughts I associated with them.

So I enjoyed the documentary a lot. But at the same time it shows how fame can disintegrate something that was incomparably special. I almost would have rather kept my memory and feelings associated with them untainted.
