Review of The Sweetest Thing (2002) by Godet W — 27 Jan 2014
The story is about Christina Walters played by Cameron Diaz who is trying to find the perfect mate along with her equally cynical buddy Courtney who is a divorce attorney played by Christina Applegate and the naive Jane played by Selma Blair.
Christina one evening meets Peter Donahue played by Thomas Jane, a real estate agent who she finds just about perfect after an unexpected makeover. Unfortunately, he leaves and all she knows is that his brother Roger played the up-and-coming Jason Bateman is getting married soon.
Recognising this, Courtney suggests they road trip to the wedding and Christina agrees, leading to encounters with a series of obstacles. I will admit that when I first heard about this movie, I was really interested in seeing this movie but when I found out years later that these were just my thoughts because this movie seemed so generic to me.
It's the whole girls hanging around trying to find guys plot which we've seen so many times before. The Sweetest Thing gets a weak 6/10.
