Review of The Sweetest Thing (2002) by Deb S — 18 Jun 2010
It's a gross out chick flick, for sure, about the quest of single, affluent, and beautiful women for Mr. Right. Close friends Cameron Diaz and Christina Applegate mix longing for love with physical comedy and nonstop slapstick humor. One day, one of the girls who's afraid of long-term commitments finds Mr. Right, but gets herself in a whole lot of funny situations when left to wonder if she let a potential keeper get away. Also along for the ride is the versatile Selma Blair who has all sorts of sexual predicaments including getting her mouth caught on her boyfriend's genital piercing and getting it loose by having her (and the obligatory crowd of onlookers) sing an Aerosmith song.
Diaz, Applegate and Blair all looked very comfortable together, as they console, comfort, aid and abet each other's quest for romance.
