Review of The Sweet Hereafter (1997) by Matthew L — 26 Sep 2008
Powerful exploration of grief and human nature about a lawyer (Ian Holm) who descends upon a small town after a tragic school bus accident kills most of its children to try to focus their rage and grief into a class action lawsuit.
His presence threatens to divide the town, and everyone, including the lawyer, must face their own demons in their newly broken lives. Delicately told and beautifully filmed, "The Sweet Hereafter" is a devastating work of immense insight and emotional power.
