Having never seen the original tv show I can't compare the two but as a stand alone fast paced British action movie it was great! It was funny, action packed and had a a very tense shoot out / chase scene across London.
Ray Winstone is perfectly cast as the modern day Gene Hunt who doesn't care how he brings down the bad guys as long as they're brought down and the rest of the cast fitted in well too. Once you're out of the cinema you will feel a strong urge to call every passerby a mug or a slaaaag!
