Review of The Swan Princess (1994) by John B — 01 Dec 2012
The Swan Princess was very well-animated. The light and water animation in particular were excellent. Sometimes the writing shone. The voice acting was excellent. By and large the only tragedy was that the writing and tone were so inconsistent and it gave up on taking itself seriously. Poor director and writing choices just killed what could have been a competent Bluth-esque animated Disney rival.
Some of the scenes, however, are taken almost frame-by-frame from Disneyâ(TM)s Sleeping Beauty. The creator was a former Disney director, the same who gave us The Black Cauldron.
