Review of The Sure Thing (1985) by Neil P — 14 Jul 2007
Gibson is on his way to college after what seems to be a lewd and drunk few years at High School. Luckily he has a natural talent for literature and writing so he?s on his way to an Ivy League school in New England.
So far, so what? His friend Lance has also gone to college but he is in California. After receiving several letters and phone calls from Lance telling him what a loser he is and that he has a girl lined up for him the sex starved Gib can take it no longer and hitches the first lift he can to California.
Problem is a girl from his class has taken the same lift and though they seem to hate each other you just know that it can mean only one thing. The rest of the film follows their various attempts to cross the vastness of the USA and the side splitting dialogue and scrapes they get in to.
Another feel good (dare I say borderline chick flick) from Rob Reiner but who cares? I love it!
