The entire movie is a love letter to Nintendo fans and anyone who played Mario as a kid. It won't appeal to people who never play video games (like most film critics) so it's not for everyone - but it's a great movie for anyone who has kids and wants a family-friendly film without any hidden agenda like Disney tends to do with their movies.
