Review of The Sum of All Fears (2002) by Claire B — 08 Nov 2009
Of the actors who have played Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan, Affleck is not the best. In fact, he is the worst, but, at the same time, he performs admirably. There are a number of criticisms on his take on the character, and having read some of the books and being quite a big fan of Clancy, I would have preferred someone else to play Ryan, but on the whole, Affleck does a good job.
DEFINING SCENE ~ Affleck's Ryan walking through the debris. This scene is brilliantly done, with the sound having been muted apart from the dull throb of helicopters and engines. Wonderful.
