Compared to the TV series 24, which explores similar territory, this is quite pedestrian. However, this is actually the film's strength as it makes Affleck's Jack far more believable than his CTU namesake, although the choice of antagonist - and his implausible agenda - would even make the producers of 24 think twice for fear of being laughed at.
