Review of The Suicide Squad (2021) by Bonzo2772 — 07 Aug 2021

Better than I expected, but nothing more than background noise. The Suicide Squad is the perfect mix when you put The Expendables, Guardians of The Galaxy and Deadpool in a blender. Great action, some funny jokes but mostly 13 years old childish humor, excesive use of time jumping (one is fine, but come on!), perfect casting but Gunn used some character so badly and Waller's resolution was far worse than "Martha moment". Villains had great potential but they were irrelevant for the history, Didn't feel like a real threat in any time.

The most redeemable point of the film is that it feels like a James Gunn movie and the studio let him do whatever sh*t he wanted. Gunn wanted animal cruelty, Warner Bros delivered it. Murder of innocents and children? No problem for Warner. And that's great, because these are bad guys and bad guys do sh*t like that.

I really hope Warner maintains this way of working with the talents in further films.

The Suicide Squad is the best movie of the DCEU? Not even close. Will I watch it again? I doubt it but I wouldn't mind having it as background noise and I can't say the same about WW84, BoP or Josstice League.
