Review of The Suicide Squad (2021) by Moviemitch96 — 06 Aug 2021
EVERY time I give a DC film a chance or the benefit of the doubt, I ALWAYS come out regretting it, and this film was certainly no exception, as it managed to outdo the awful and underwhelming first 'Suicide Squad' film as well.
Directed by James Gunn (of the 'Guardians of the Galaxy' films), what started out in the first half as a somewhat humorous and playful film quickly dived headfirst into absolute mind-numbing CGI/explosion-galore absurdity, shameless gore, and an all-around jumbled and messy story that I couldn't have cared less about.
It also REALLY dragged on. With the exception of Margot Robbie and John Cena having their fair share of humorous and scene-stealing moments, EVERYBODY else (yes, even the normally very talented Idris Elba and Viola Davis) were all pitifully wasted.
But the worst part? You wanna know what the big main threat is in the second half of this mess of a film? Starfish. A GIANT STARFISH. Yes it's as ridiculous as it sounds. Overall, it's just another shameless, half-assed, and all-around mind-numbing DC film that just continues to remind me why the MCU is consistently better.
