Review of The Sugarland Express (1974) by Aya V — 28 Oct 2008
What a beautifull film. I absulutly loved it! Goldie Hawn is just made for this roll! Yes it might be a bit of a simple naive story as sometimes Spielberg films are, but I thought it was just beautifull.
I loved the relationshiped that developed, not just between the couple and their hostage, but also between the couple and cop who was chasing them. I loved the fact that there was no one that was just evil or no one that is pure. One of my favourite scenes in the film is when lou Jean (Hawn) and clovis are in the trailer watchig cartoons on someone elses nearby TV and clovis makes the sound effects for Lou Jean. This scene is sooo beautifully innocent and beautifully shot (by the one and only Vilmos Zigmond) it is very rare to find moments like this on films today, it seems like it has all been done before.
A beautifull innocent film for anyone who still have some of that in their heart.
