Review of The Stuff (1985) by Lori V — 19 Oct 2009
I originally saw a trailer for this online, amazed by how amusing and dark it was at the same time. I knew I had to watch it, but when I did, it kinda destroyed my expectations.
Okay, you might think I'm mad for saying a movie can't do justice to a trailer, but this movie's the case. There felt something missing here. I think the music may have been one of the causes; the use of music selection in the trailer sounded typical 80's horror music, but felt more terrifying than what was selected here; though it picks up at spots.
Moving on from music, There's parts of the film that I found that just happen in an instant. It doesn't happen constantly, but just in a way it's trying to disguise it, yet you can make those parts out, if you know what I mean.
Acting is so-so, then again this is a cheesy 80's horror flick. It's okay, though don't have high expectations after watching the trailer.
