Review of The Street with No Name (1948) by Eric R — 11 Dec 2010
A solid noir that is really elevated by the outstanding Richard Widmark. The Street with No Name tells the story of an FBI agent whom goes undercover in order to stop the city mob and get close to mob boss Richard Widmark.
One of the things I really did like about this film, is that it spend a lot of time giving us the details of how the FBI would do certain things, from ballistics too fingerprints. The films aethetics are solid but nothing spectacular by Noir standards.
The story is engaging and has some good cat and mouse game moments throughout. Its a good film, but definitely not one of the upper echelon noirs.
