Review of The Strangers: Prey at Night (2018) by Elina N — 10 Mar 2018
I don't know how horror fans could be disappointed by this film. It has most of the classic hallmarks of an 80s-style slasher. Sure, this film is different in style to the original- the original depended solely on an unnerving atmosphere and was slow-burn in it's approach. Prey at night is more stream-lined and pop. It's faster paced. It has 80s music and synth sounds. And it has two great performances by the kids.
This is a film, not for critics or those looking for a revelation but, for slasher fans. This is for those that miss John Carpenter's style of film-making. There are tons of horror movies out there. It's refreshing to see a well-crafted slasher on the screen.
