Review of The Strangers: Prey at Night (2018) by Mohamed M — 23 May 2018
THE STRANGERS 2- 43%.
What a joke.
I mean is this seriously a thing? Well for starters I want to congratulate the movie for the thriller/horror aspect of it. I was indeed scared at times.
However, when regarding the actual story-structure... it is non-existent. The story is so bad that I was cursing the screen as I saw this foolishness.
*** Spoilers***.
Firstly, I hate it when directors make the actors deliberately dumb in their horror flicks. For instance, What do the parents do when the kids say they found a dead body in a house? You take the car and leave- The obvious answer. You split in half to go investigate? I mean really?
Secondly, the movie felt very rushed. We didn't have a chance to meet the characters. It felt like this movie said let's forget the story and just aim to scare people.
Thirdly, the stranger is killing this girl and her brother comes to the rescue but of course, hesitates to shoot her. However, later on, he stabs another stranger multiple times when the stranger tried to kill him. I mean is that the directors' way of showing character development, because it is not relevant at all. Watch the movie and you will see.
Finally, the last killer and the main actress remain. She manages to blow up his car while the killer is in it. But, of course, it doesn't kill him. Then, he leaves the car to kill her and takes out a huge shattered glass from his stomach and faints to the floor( Our thinking he is dead). But wait there's more, she finds a ride for help and there he pops up again with a sledgehammer trying to slaughter her... I mean, is he God?
Waste of time.
