Review of The Strangers (2011) by Cameron E — 03 Sep 2012
Succeeded in the setup and very creepy moments, but failed in the payoff. Has a few great jump scenes, just because the director liked to catch us off guard in the quiet scenes. liv tyler can be attractive in the right settings, but the director didnt really know what he was doing.
he seemed to be more interested in the low key lighting of the house than making sure liv tyler didn't look fat in the frame. anyways, the masked guy was legit scary but the others were lame. I was kinda bored by the end, and finally they were captured by the "strangers" seriously, the entire movie was us watching two people running around frantically while three strangers(a family wtf?) were wasting time hiding behind trees and popping up in random times.
so payoff was not there. it did make me lock my bedroom door though that night. creepy sure.
