A great step in the direction of ultimate horror. Though not the scariest movie ever filmed, The Strangers is definitely above the norm in the "home-invasion" genre. Liv Tyler and Scott Speedman took average horror roles and managed to transcend the threshold.
Perhaps my favorite non-mini-series horror film, but still only a slight advancement in the horror. With a brilliant script, save the god-awful ending, and perfectly eerie direction, "The Strangers" is well made.
Maybe a must-see. If you like horror films see it, if you don't... eh doesn't matter.
