Review of The Strangers (2008) by Kira P — 24 Aug 2014
I have no idea who have rated this film so lowly, yet they could be overly familiar with the actors, that rarely feature in horror movies and typecast to certain roles outside of this genre. In my opinion, this is one of the most terrifyingly plausible and anxiety-tiered cinema safari's I have ever jungled.
As a contemporary scary it is brimming with the invisible marching enemies our sanity tries to reason with the dark forces of wild immagination, eager paranoia and inevitable human fears of terror, even in the afterlife where we could potentially inhabit the world of the living and project our immortal torment? .
Those masked intruders resonate speedily with our sense of the unknown, and few horror films have ever rendered me physically incapacitated by the sheer calculating moves of the strangers, who are warped sadist red-necks, searching and patrolling isolated communities in a quest to cull the unwitting.
To not be frightened out your wits by this, you must be turning away from pivotal moments as the suspense element notches up, or partially engaged in the whole experience - it takes an awful lot to frighten me but this certainly did and have never forgotten it!.
