- 'The Strangers' is a 2008 American horror movie written and directed by Bryan Bertino, who was inspired by the true story of Manson killings and a couple of break-ins that happened in his neighborhood during his childhood. With a limited 9 million dollars, the movie grossed 82.3 million. I like the tension and the creepy masks. Of course, some cliché's appear and people make stupid decisions. Starring Liv Tyler (Armageddon, The Lord of the Rings saga) and Scott Speedman (Underworld films). Anyone home?
After attending a wedding party Kristen McKay (Tyler) and James Hoyt (Speedman) arrive at their remote vacation home where they will spend the night. The tension between the two is high, because Kristen has turned down James's marriage proposal. At 4 a.m., a young woman knocks on the door and asks if Tamara is home. When James tells her she must have the wrong house, the woman leaves. But when James is out to fetch some cigarettes, the young woman returns and starts to harass Kristen, who is terrified. Someone has entered the house...
