Review of The Strangers (2008) by Sai? S — 09 Jul 2012
An effective thriller where the direction ups the suspense factor to cover for the inactivity throughout the movie. Liv Tyler is the main character and focus with Speedman as her husband in a less obvious role. The creep factor comes from 3 masked strangers who terrorize the couple. The suspense comes from the strangers appearing in just the right spot to make you jump. The most menacing of the strangers is "Doll-Face" as she has on a mask of a china doll which gives her the added uneasiness of being innocent and she cant do any harm.
The movie loses momentum because the strangers are only chasing 2 people and it becomes obvious that they are relying on the one big scene to carry the movie. The scene is when the couple is tied up Tyler asks the strangers why are they doing this and they say, " because you were home". So no one is safe and this could happen to you.
