Review of The Strange Ones (2018) by Brendan N — 20 Jan 2019
The slow drama wasn't the incorrect choice, it was the filmmaking choices that stop this from being a solid indie film. The story unfolds bit by bit, but anyone can guess that where this story is leading.
Pettyfer plays the mysterious role quite well, but even he can't overcome a very one dimensional role. This could have been one of the best films of the year, it had all the elements in place, but sadly it only hits half of the time.
A better construction of character to suit the dark tone, which is impressive and saves the film from growing tiresome. The film leaves to much in the air and doesn't allow the viewer to immerse themselves in the film.
