Treachery rules in this steamy, noir-ish movie. It takes a while to build past some clunky plot and odd character motivation in order to get around to a relatively gripping finale, but the four main actors: Stanwyck, Heflin, Scott and a very young Kirk Douglas all do well enough to fight their way through the melodrama.
