This is a very moving picture about an old veteran, who takes a six week journey to visit his ill brother. Based on a true story of Alvin Straight who incredibly travelled over 300 miles on the back of his lawnmower.

For once David Lynch did not have to inject any of his own weirdness, because the scenario itself is bizarre. 'The Straight Story' moves along at it's own pace and has such a wonderful and pleasant manner.
