Review of The Straight Story (1999) by Paul H — 15 May 2009
This has quiet a lot of the hallmarks of a typical David Lynch film. Lots of scenes that reminded me of Blue Velvet , like the waving people & the scenes in bars and the characters.
This film is very different from Blue Velvet and Twin Peakes in that it is utimately a story of a mans reconciliation with his brother.
Kyle Straight is a very proud man, that pride is so intense he stubbornly rides a lawn mower across several States to see his brother. Along the way he meets various people and we learn more about Kyle.
Very moving and rewarding despite a slow start with great insights into the human condition and some deep truths.
