Review of The Straight Story (1999) by Ben W — 21 Oct 2010
This is a film accomplishes something that few films are capable of. it slows the world down. its almost as if the globe loses its sense of time. watching the inimitable farnsworth bring his character to life is like watching van gogh paint.
its a perfectly paced film, simple and yet hugely affecting piece of the human spirit put to film. added to that, finding out the context to farnsworth dealing with his own terminal illness during the filming and his subsequent death gives the film all the more power.
an excellent film.
