Review of The Stoning of Soraya M. (2009) by Serge C — 12 May 2010
A powerful, but also, unfortunately, a true story. Brilliantly acted. The stoning scene is hard to erase from memory -we read news stories of modern day stoning taking place but to actually see how it is executed, with children involved, wow.
This is such an important piece to watch, to realise lack of women's rights in certain cultures and to learn how religion is misused as a weapon for purely selfish reasons (as in this story, for lust).
