Based on a true story as documented by a French journalist, the film has Zahra (Shohreh Aghdashloo) telling the horrifying story of her niece to a journalist (Jim Caviezel) after his car breaks down in their Iranian village.
Soraya's husband wants a divorce so gets his friends to say she's committing adultery - a crime punishable by stoning. It's a well made, slow moving drama that heads inevitably to its shocking conclusion.
Powerful stuff.
