This film is one of the most heartbreaking I have ever seen, probably because I am half Persian and know all to well what barbarism goes on in Iran. The main actor (Soraya's mother) Shohreh Aghdashloo is excellent and is supported by a cast that fits their characters quite well.

Although the movie's plot and vision is narrow (ie. focussing the oppression of women in Iran by the Muslim clergy and typical bearded Iranian men), it conveys that plot very well; the point of the film is not to bring our attention to the fact that stoning is wrong.

..no one in the modern world disagrees with this, but it screams the story of the life that most women in Iran have, and forces us to be touched by their heartbreaking story. The antagonists are not over exaggerated at all, and the characters paint an accurate picture of the more than typical life in Iran, especially in the uneducated smaller towns.

This movie not only deserves to be seen, but it deserves to be bought and owned.
