Review of The Stoning of Soraya M. (2009) by Antonio R — 08 Apr 2011
Solid acting. Great visuals. A bit slow at times, but sufficient pace overall. Nice parallels, being made too obvious by casting JC, which is great as ever. Therefore, making this one of the nicest flicks I've seen recently.
But having said that, the screenplay had failed to address the fundamental reason that permitted, even prescribed, this kind of outrage. And it diminishes a moral tour de force into a simple tragedy, making the whole experience somewhat, lacking, should this to parallel to JC's other accomplishment.
Still, four stars.
