This is an Important Movie. While one longs for a bit more plot development and, perhaps, a touch of subtlety, the story is a sucker-punch. It stuns one into anger for the plight of many women behind the veil, and makes one long for a day when fundamentalist cultures gain the enlightenment to consider all God's creatures as equal.
The climactic scene is unforgettable. Yes, it's calculated to shock, but shock it does, and it should.
